Golf wagon in Europe. Or Golf Estate, depending on who you ask.

It's losing the Jetta name next gen. It's either going to be the Golf Wagon or just Sportswagen.

I know right? I'm sure we'll both know before they come in. But I might have to sneak over for a test drive if they make it over here.

I think it looks much better in MKVII sheetmetal, even without the R trimmings. The MKV and VI have some weird stuff going on in the rear end that I just can't get over. I like the slightly more upright back on this one.

The custom-built R32 wagons I've seen were by far the best looking R32s.

The problem is they hadthe extended wagon body, but then the back end itself was more rounded off like a hatchback. It gives it a wonky angle in the back. I like it, but I could see how people could not.

It doesn't photograph well. It looks a lot better in person.

That would be cool. But I doubt it.

Check out this HPA-modded Mk5 Jetta Sportwagen - http://www.speedhunters.com/2011/10/car_sp…
And here's an earlier Mk4 just for a little aural pleasure...

I wonder if the roof rails are removable? that's the one part I hate on most wagons is the stupid roof rails. Handy if you are putting something on the roof(I wouldn't have the need to) but isn't the point of a wagon to have lots of storage on the inside?

In Europe, it's the Golf Variant.
Here, it will be renamed either Golf Sportwagen, or just Sportwagen.

Absolutely yes. "Your new Golf R Wagon has 200 miles on it? Strange..."
